Statement Regarding the Libyan Revolution

Today marks the end of a long night for the people of Libya and the dawn of a new day.  Today, the regime of Moammar Gadhafi has finally came to an end, and the shackles of bondage are now broken.  The Libyan people themselves have brought down their tyrant, in a bloody but successful struggle, showing the mighty force an oppressed people can wield.  In doing so Libya sends a message to the despots of the world, that they serve at the will of the people and that they too can be replaced.  From this day forward, the door is open for liberty and democracy in Libya.  I wish the brave citizens of Libya well and hope that that they use this newfound freedom wisely, for the betterment of their nation and the world.
